Oakland has a municipal water system that serves the Town and some surrounding areas. Annually, the Town’s water is evaluated and presented in a Consumer Confidence Report that provides citizens a full analysis of our water. The report for 2010 is attached here: CCR Newsletter 2010
Water rates
$13.50 – 5000 gallons minimum charge
$2.71 – each additional 1000 gallons
Irrigation is $2.71 per 1,000 gallons
Rates for non-resident services are 1.5 times the above.
Water bills also include fees for garbage collection
($16.50), and a 10% utility tax.
Meters are usually read around the 25th or 26th of each month.
Bills are sent out on the 1st of the month, and may be paid by mail, put in the Town Center drop boxes or in person at Town Hall.
PAYMENTS ARE DUE ON THE 10th of EACH MONTH, CONSIDERED LATE 11th SHUT OFFS ARE PERFORMED ON THE 21st. PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY. WE DO NOT SEND REMINDERS.

Zone 1 Wednesday and Saturday
Zone 2 Friday and Monday
Zone 3 Sunday and Thursday
Zone 1 Johns Landing subdivision including South Remington Road and Sunoco.
Excluding the streets of Largovista & Orionvista which is now Zone 2
Zone 2 Old Town streets including Oakland Pointe, Southern Oaks and Winter’s Landing Subdivisions and commercial properties north of SR 50. Including John’s Landing Largovista & Orionvista
Zone 3 Oakland Nature Preserve, Johns Cove and Trail side subdivisions the remaining westerly portions of the Town to the Lake County Line.
Updates to the ordinance include Watering one day per week during
daylight savings time!

How can I water new sod?
You are required to have a water waiver in advance if you are planting new sod. You may only water on the days & times indicated.
Pest control comes on a different day, What do I do?
You may only water on the days & times indicated. Please notify your vendor of your
watering day.
When can I wash my vehicles?
You may wash your car anytime only with hoses equipped with automatic shutoff device.
Starting service
To start water service, you must complete a Utility Customer Service Request Form
get the .pdf here). A $125 deposit is required; Deposits are returned when the account is terminated and there are no outstanding bills.
Water line maintenance
The Town is responsible for maintenance of the meter and upstream delivery system. The customer is responsible for maintenance of the delivery system and fixtures on the outlet side of the meter.
Discounts for filling your pool
Oakland does not discount water bills for filling your pool.
The Town of Oakland will prosecute all water theft.
The town may imprison and/or fine water thieves, up to $1000! Developers and contractors who need to tap into a fire hydrant can do so legally by applying for a permit at the Water Department and getting a hydrant or hose bib meter.
Town employees are trained to detect meter tampering and evidence of water theft.
