LONG RANGE PLANNING See More

Long Range planning tasks guide development

within the Town of Oakland to adapt to growth

pressures from within and beyond the Town.

The Town recently adopted a rewrite of the

State mandated Comprehensive Policy Plan

per Chapter 163, Florida Statutes, which

included a review of the Town’s vision.

The vision outlines community values and

priorities to develop a consensus of goals

for the future of the Town over the next 20 years.

SHORT RANGE PLANNING

Implementation of long range planning goals

is the responsibility of short range planning.

This is where the shovels hit the dirt. New

development and construction receive

development review and building permit

approval through these processes. The

primary tools of Planning and Zoning are

the Land Development Code and

Development Review and Permitting

Processes. All development, whether

residential or non-residential, must follow

the land development code and process

before permitting and construction may

begin. The codes and processes are

overseen by volunteer citizen review

boards and committees that directly

affect a development proposal both

large and small.
